Stuart Roy Clarke’s Homes of Football: Rain Comes Down, 1990
If there’s a place and a photo that stops me in my tracks, it is this one. Boxing Day and two years on from Hillsborough, the terraced cage where the manslaughter occurred is still unused. The rain lashes down and is bouncing off the infamous Leppings Lane End. Elsewhere, as I shiver and I shudder, all over the country, families are waiting for loved ones who have gone to watch a match and who have slipped out of the festivities for a while.
