THE FIFA COLLECTION
Images from the FIFA Collection can be viewed and purchased through the Bridgeman Art Library - visit www.bridgemanart.com and enter $NFM into the keyword search.
The finest single collection of football memorabilia in the world. The collection was assembled by Harry Langton, a London journalist with a passion for the game. Finding a home for the collection was one of the driving forces behind the foundation of the National Football Museum.
The collection began with a 5 shilling purchase of a small print in the 1950s, bought as a present by Harry's wife, Ann. Harry went on to assemble the collection as his passion over the rest of his life.
The collection was exhibited at the World Cup finals in Italy in 1990 and USA in 1994, where it came to the attention of FIFA General Secretary, Joseph Sepp Blatter, now FIFA President. FIFA took on joint ownership of the collection to ensure its long-term preservation and then worked with the emerging National Football Museum to win funding for the new Museum and the purchase of the collection, appropriately always now to be known as the FIFA Collection, so that it can be enjoyed by the world forever.
Sadly Harry Langton died just before the Museum opened in 2001.
