Community Projects
Inspire to Independence Project
The National Football Museum is working with a national provider of training services, Inspire to Independence (I2I), to host training sessions and surgeries aimed at helping local young people acquire the skills and confidence to gain employment.
The initiative which is supported by the Learning and Skills Council, Jobcentre Plus and the Department for Work and Pensions is part of I2I's Football 5000 programme based in football stadia in the region, aimed at using the power of football to help 5,000 young people into employment by 2012.
I2I staff have found that by holding the training at the National Football Museum young people are much more excited about attending than would be the case at an office venue. The Museum also provides an enjoyable atmosphere for relaxing between training sessions and for celebrating achievement.
