ALL FOR ONE, ONE FOR ALL

An exhibition launched at the National Football Museum
3rd March - 3rd June 2007

Nuneaton Museum and Art Gallery from 2nd May to 7th June 2009

This photographic exhibition displays the work of Philip Colvin. Throughout the 2004/2005 football season Philip documented the experiences of disabled Crystal Palace FC supporter Samuel Burch as he travelled across the country in support of his team.

The photographs show the challenges and obstacles that Samuel faced as he travelled to football matches and how he overcame them. The images also show the support he received from fellow football fans.

Samuel Burch says of the exhibition,

“If you are confident with your own disability there are ways of getting to most grounds in the country either by car or by train and generally people do help if you are brave enough to ask. A key point here is that many people may not realise, is that football supporters who ever they follow are bound by a sense of community. I hope to encourage other disabled people to get out there, go to games and simply not let disability be a restriction”.

Phil's photography project shows just what can be achieved by those with mobility difficulties and he hopes that it will encourage others with disabilities to discover the enjoyment of following their local football team.

The exhibition is part of the Museum's ‘Developing Football for All' programme. ‘Developing Football for All' aims to celebrate the contribution of disabled people to the game of football through a programme of exhibitions and workshops starting in 2007.
