Glenn Hoddle
| Category: | Male Player |
| Year Inducted: | 2007 |
Hoddle's sublime balance and close control, unrivalled passing and vision and extraordinary shooting ability, both from open play and set pieces, made him the most gifted English player of his generation. Joining Spurs as a schoolboy apprentice in 1974, he flourished under Keith Burkinshaw's management, in a stylish Tottenham side that was particularly successful in the FA Cup. He played 53 times for England. Michel Platini famously said if he had been French he would have won 150 caps. In 1987 he was signed by AS Monaco where he had four great years under Arsene Wenger, who has described him as “a player years ahead of his time”.
