Paul Dermody, OBE

Paul was appointed as chief executive of De Vere Group Plc, formerly the Greenalls Group Plc, in February 2000 and retired in October 2003. The Group changed its name after selling its pub interest to Scottish & Newcastle in December 1999.

He previously held other positions within the Group, notably chief executive of the Premier House division, which operated branded catering in pubs and the Premier Lodge budget bedroom brand. He joined the Main Board of Greenalls in July 1997.

Well known in the hotel industry, he is regularly called upon to comment and is often quoted in industry journals; he has made many radio and TV appearances.

He is a past Chairman of the British Hospitality Association (BHA) council and is a fellow of: The Hotel & Catering International Management Association (HCIMA); The British Association of Hotel Accountants (BAHA); and The Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA).

He is also an Associate of The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and a Companion of Chartered Management Institute (CCMI).

He is currently the Chairman of England's North West Tourism Skills Network. He is also a non-executive Director of Majestic Wine PLC, Aga Foodservice Group plc and a member of The Better Hospital Food Project.

He was awarded the O.B.E. in the 2003 New Years Honours for services to the Hospitality Industry.
