Bill Nicholson Officially Inducted Into The National Football Museum Hall Of Fame'

The National Football Museum honoured one of the all time greats of English football on Saturday 8th May when they travelled to White Hart Lane to present Spurs' managerial legend, Bill Nicholson, with his Hall of Fame Award.

The presentation was made on the pitch before the Premier League fixture with Blackburn Rovers. Unfortunately due to poor health, Bill was unable to personally receive his award on the day. However, close family friend and ex Tottenham and England player Martin Chivers, gratefully accepted the honour on Bills behalf.

Mark Bushell from the Museum said:

“We believed that a football ‘Hall of Fame' was long overdue. Many of English football's great characters never had their outstanding contributions to the game recognised during their lifetime. Unfortunately Mr Nicholson was unavailable to attend our Hall of Fame event in November but we promised him that we would present his award at an appropriate place.”

And what better place than in front of 36,000 fans at White Hart Lane .

And Bushell paid tribute to Bill's incredible achievements:

“What a record Bill has. It wasn't just the Double in 1961 that impressed our selection panel it was the ground breaking European success, whilst domestically he produced a number of great sides that won the club a huge amount of trophies. You have to marvel at his dedication and tremendous hard work. He truly deserves to be recognised in this way.”
