National
Football Museum sets up links with China
The National Football
Museum joined other leading British museums on a successful UK Trade & Investment
scoping mission to China.
The purpose of the mission was to offer advice and expertise to museum officials
in China in the run-up to this summer's football Asian Cup and the 2008 Olympics.
The 7 day visit was organised by the British Government to promote UK trade
and industry. The inclusion of The National Football Museum on the high profile
mission is testament to the excellent international reputation it has gained
as one of the world's leading sports museums.
Mark Bushell, who represented The National Football Museum on the mission,
said:
'We talked about all sorts of topics ranging from how to tell a story. exhibition
design, marketing and the best ways of holding people's attention by using interactive
methods.'
The British team met China's state administrator of cultural heritage and the
country's national tourism administrator and also attended a reception at the
British ambassador's residence.
Mr Bushell added:
'The Chinese are looking at their own cultural institutions and want to make
them accessible to visitors from all over the world. We at The National Football
Museum are only too happy to share our expertise to help them accomplish their
goals.'
