Sir Tom Finney To Attend FREE Memorabilia Valuation Day At The National Football Museum
Sir Tom Finney, one of the greatest players England has ever produced, will be on hand to talk about his career and reminisce about the ‘Golden Age' of the English game at The National Football Museum on Monday, 6th September, 2004. Sir Tom, who starred for Preston North End and England, will be helping to launch a series of football memorabilia valuation days throughout the country.
Visitors can gain access to the Museum from 11am and the valuations will conclude at 3pm.
Mark Bushell, spokesman for the Museum said:
“Collecting football memorabilia is hugely popular now. But with that popularity comes uncertainty as to the value of certain artifacts and objects. When IntoFootball approached us to use our facilities, for the launch of their ‘Valuation Day Tour' , we were more than happy to oblige. It will give the owners of the artifacts a true understanding of their value, which will in turn help them to accurately insure them”.
And to assist in this process Graham Budd, of Sotheby's Auction House, London , will be Chairman of the Valuation Panel.
Jim Cadman from IntoFootball said:
“This is a great opportunity to check out the attic, talk to the grandparents and bring along your programmes, medals, shirts, boots, international caps, autographs, trophies, photographs, and playing equipment. The owner of every object seen will be given a certificate of value that they can then take to their insurance company”.
And Bushell was keen to point out the value of the day to the Museum:
“Who knows what we may
unearth. It's going to be incredibly exciting day and if we do find some gems,
of national and international importance, then perhaps the owners may decide
to house them at the Museum”.
The Valuation Day is FREE to all
visitors
The ‘Valuation Day Tour' will continue throughout the country, at historic football venues including Accrington Stanley, Derby County, Aldershot, Swansea, Nott's County, Merthyr Tydvil, Bolton and Stoke.
