Local Government Minister unveils football's 'Holy Grail' at The National Football Museum

The National Football Museum was delighted to welcome today Local Government Minister Phil Hope to unveil one of its newest exhibits.

The Museum is now home to the match ball used in the first World Cup Final in 1930 between the hosts and winners Uruguay and Argentina.

NFM spokesman Mark Bushell is thrilled with the latest addition to the Museum's collections:

"The ball from the first World Cup Final is a truly fabulous object, a genuine holy grail item for any football enthusiast. We are absolutely delighted that visitors to the Museum will be able to view this unique and historic artefact."

Mr Hope was in Preston to promote the campaign for a North West Regional Assembly. He unveiled the 1930 World Cup Final ball at a press conference assisted by pupils from Preston's Moor Park High School.
