Loyd Grossman visits National Football Museum to highlight its role as one of the regions leading attractions

The Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) has enlisted the help of broadcaster and cultural champion Loyd Grossman to ask the public in the region to highlight their favourite attractions.

Together with his “destination searchlight”, Loyd spent Tuesday 29th June travelling the length and breadth of the Northwest seeking out the attractions that make the region such a special place to visit.

As part of his journey, Loyd visited The National Football Museum to request the people of Lancashire to nominate the attractions that they feel most proud of.

Examples sought could range from well-recognised attractions such as the groundbreaking Millennium Ribble Canal Link or National Football Museum , to lesser-known delights such as striking local buildings or even a breathtaking or picturesque view.

Writer and broadcaster Loyd has long taken a keen interest in Northwest culture and tourism, and combines his role as Commissioner for English Heritage with numerous other roles, including Chairman of the Northwest Cultural Consortium.

Says Loyd; “The Northwest has a growing international reputation for being culturally rich and diverse, with a growing list of world class attractions.

“But what we really want to know is what you think people should visit in your area. It may be something that you feel particularly proud of, or something that does not get the recognition it deserves. Either way, we want to know!”

Loyd concludes; “By putting this to the people, we hope to spotlight the attractions that the wider community really love, whilst seek-out and highlight some new and exciting destinations as well.”

Those wishing to nominate attractions should visit www.visitenglandsnorthwest.co.uk , or mail them with their name, address and reason why to Loyd Grossman, Great Days Out, NWDA, PO Box 37, Centre Park, Warrington, WA1 1BX.
