UEFA
Jubilee Exhibition Now Open at the National Football Museum
With
2004 being the Jubilee year of UEFA, The National Football Museum has launched
a fantastic special exhibition to celebrate the development of European football
over the last 50 years.
The exhibition consists of 52 panels telling the story of European football
expansion under the guise of UEFA. Also within the display are 6 showcases holding
some fabulous memorabilia including; a UEFA Champions League Trophy, a UEFA
Cup, the old UEFA Cup Winners Cup and a European Championship Trophy, recently
won by Greece at Euro 2004.
UEFA Jubilee
Exhibition, charting the life of UEFA from its foundation in Basle in 1954,
through to its present day role as the world's strongest continental sports
organisation. It particularly focuses on the invaluable 'grass roots' work the
organisation does in ensuring the continued growth and success of European football
at all levels of the game.
Richard Cuthbert
from the Museum said: "To host the UEFA exhibition and contribute to their
Jubilee Celebrations is a tremendous honour for the Museum. Working so closely
with UEFA really is further testament to the excellent international reputation
of The National Football Museum as one of the world's leading Sports Museums."
The exhibition had previously been on show at the European Parliament buildings
in Brussels and at the old Heysel stadium in the same city. It will now be on
display at The National Football Museum until the UEFA European Women's Championships
in Summer 2005. Like the rest of The National Football Museum the special exhibition
is FREE to enter.
The opening times for the UEFA Jubilee Exhibition are:
