With support from The
North West Regional Development Agency (NWDA), The National Football Museum
has collaborated with UEFA to celebrate the Union of European Football Association's
Golden Jubilee.
The Museum has loaned objects to a special UEFA Jubilee Exhibition, charting
the life of UEFA from its foundation in Basle in 1954, through to its present
day role as the world's strongest continental sports organisation. It particularly
focuses on the invaluable 'grass roots' work the organisation does in ensuring
the continued growth and success of European football at all levels of the game.
Richard Cuthbert from the Museum said: "To be asked by UEFA to contribute
to their Jubilee Celebrations is a tremendous honour for the Museum. It really
is further testament to the excellent international reputation of The National
Football Museum as one of the world's leading sports Museum's backed by an expert
exhibition design team."
The UEFA Golden Jubilee Exhibition is currently on display at the European Parliament
in Brussels. A team from the Museum has travelled out to Belgium to staff the
exhibition and speak to the many MEP's and other International dignitaries that
will enjoy the Jubilee Exhibition.
Cuthbert added: "As one of the team who headed out to Brussels it was a wonderful opportunity to meet with politicians from all over Europe and spread the good word about the National Football Museum and the work we do."
From Monday 4th October
the UEFA Golden Jubilee Exhibition will move from the European Parliament to
a new location at the newly renovated Heysel Stadium in the city. Following
its stay at Belgium's National Stadium, the wonderful exhibition will come to
The National Football Museum from Friday 22nd October for the enjoyment of all
visitors.
