Rangers and Scotland Legend Ally McCoist Pays Homage To The National Football Museum

Ally McCoist, one of Scottish footballs all time greats and star of BBC Televisions Question of Sport, paid a visit to The National Football Museum on Saturday 18 th December and was amazed by the scale of the Museums exhibitions and the quality of its collections.

McCoist, who was at Deepdale filming for the ITV Championships programme, broadcast on Sunday 19th December, was clearly in awe of what the Museum had achieved.

“The Museums collections just took my breath away. Some of the objects are just fantastic. I saw the oldest international shirt in the world from 1872. When I found out that the game between Scotland and England had been played at the West of Scotland Cricket Club, in Glasgow , I couldn't believe it because that's the ground where I used to train with Glasgow Rangers”.

Museum spokesman, Mark Bushell was delighted with the visit:

“Ally was genuinely lost for words. He just kept uttering “Unbelievable” as I showed him one great object after another. He is clearly very knowledgeable about the game and was reeling of the dates of when the clubs he had played for were formed. He also said he was going to get his close pal Paul Gascoigne to visit the Museum with him the next time he comes”.

McCoist, who had time to play the Goalstriker penalty shoot out game, netting all three of his penalties, said:

“I had some fabulous years at Rangers with Gazza. He's a terrific lad and I know he would love it here. The exhibitions are great fun and I'm going to have a word with him about receiving his Hall of Fame award at the Museum. I'm sure he would be honoured”.
