National Football Museum scoops star prize in the Lancashire and Blackpool Tourism Awards 2005/06

Staff at The National Football Museum were today greeted with the wonderful news that it had scooped the large visitor attraction of the year award. The Museum beat off stiff competition from the likes of Blackpool's Sandcastle and Chorley's Camelot theme park to win the illustrious award.

To have beaten such outstanding competition has delighted all at the Museum and is testament to the continued success of this world class attraction.

Richard Cuthbert from the Museum said:

"This is in recognition of an outstanding marketing campaign at many levels. With a minimum budget we regularly position ourselves in the media and have increased television coverage from 2 broadcasts a month to 3 making it easily the most filmed and newsworthy Museum in England."

Cuthbert continued:

"We are delighted to be focusing media interest through our exhibitions and collections onto Lancashire and the North West but we must not forget that this award also recognises our outstanding customer service. The front of house team, like all at the Museum, have played a fundamental part in our achievements to date. This award recognises their wonderful achievement and high standards to giving each visitor a positive experience."
