Legends of the Game Launch Official National Football Museum Hall of Fame Book at Museum.

The National Football Museum 's Hall of Fame got a further boost in the build up to Christmas this year. Members of the Museum team have produced a 260 page illustrated book featuring all 62 Inductees of the Museum's Hall of Fame. The book, Football's Greatest Heroes, The National Football Museum Hall of Fame, has been beautifully illustrated with artefacts from the Museum's vast archive and is set to become a best seller over the festive period. Published by ‘Robson Books', an imprint of ‘Chrysalis Publishing', the book is the first in a number of titles that will be produced, in the forthcoming months, by the Museum's team of football experts.

The book was officially launched on Friday 16th December, and the Museum secured the services of four genuine legends of the game. Preston North Ends very own Sir Tom Finney, along with arguably one of the greatest goalkeepers the world has ever seen, Gordon Banks (who starred for Stoke City and England) and two of Manchester City's favourite sons, Colin Bell and Bert Trautmann, were all on hand to sign copies of the book along with the authors Robert Galvin and Mark Bushell.

Mark Bushell from the Museum said: “Ever since the Museum created its Hall of Fame, in 2002, we wanted to produce a book that would be available to football supporters everywhere and would help us to keep alive the great names from footballs past. We want to ensure that future generations of football fans celebrate not only the careers of those outstanding individuals of recent times, but also the players and managers who helped to shape the game before the creation of the Premier League. This book pays homage to those who have made a lasting and outstanding contribution to the game in England.”

The book not only details the careers of the Inductees themselves but also recalls the epic matches, the great goals and the exceptional teams of each era. The action on the field is also placed in context with wider developments in the game.

National Football Museum President, Sir Bobby Charlton, is delighted to see the book hit the shelves in the run up to Christmas. He said: “Many great footballers and managers have never been afforded the recognition that they deserve in the game. This publication is a fitting tribute to their efforts on the pitch or in the dugout and ensures that their legacy is never forgotten.”
