Museum team in successful trade mission to China

A team from The National Football Museum has just returned from a successful trade mission to China with a view to collaborating on a series of high profile exhibitions throughout the country to tie in with the 2006 World Cup Finals.

The Chinese are keen to utilise the Museum's unrivalled skills in exhibition design, inimitable knowledge of football history and ability to access to the most important collections of football memorabilia in the world.

The Museum team had successful meetings with a number of high ranking Chinese officials including representatives of The British Chamber of Commerce and Natural History Museum in Hong Kong, the Three Gorges Museum in Chongqing and the Beijing Football Association.

The invitation to visit China and discuss various exhibition proposals is further testament to the excellent international reputation of The National Football Museum as one of the world's leading sports museums.

Museum Manager Julie Allsop said:

'The Chinese are looking to deliver a range of exhibitions to satisfy their Country's love of football. We at The National Football Museum are only too happy to share our expertise to help them accomplish their goals.'

Museum Spokesman Mark Bushell said:

'We were delighted with the outcomes of the mission. It looks very likely that the Museum will be contributing to exhibitions throughout China in the next couple of years. This will build on our previous successul overseas projects that include Japan, Germany, Belgium and Portugal."
