The National Football Museum Hall Of Fame Announces Nominees, Date & Venue For 2005 Event

Legendary England football hero Sir Tom Finney, together with former Nottingham Forest, Arsenal, Manchester United and England star, Viv Anderson, today announced this years Nominees, together with the venue, for The National Football Museum Hall of Fame 2005.

The two footballing giants of yesteryear unveiled this years lucky Nominees within the venue for this years event, the Lowry Hotel in Manchester.

Finney, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame in its inaugural year in 2002, and Anderson, inducted in 2004, are delighted to see that the Hall of Fame is now established as one of the highlights of the English football calendar.

Sir Tom said: “Being inducted into the Hall of Fame is a great honour. To be recognised by the selection committee is quite humbling. The Gala Awards night is truly wonderful and it brought back many fond memories for me”.

The selection panel are currently looking at the new Nominees list in an attempt to whittle it down from 75 Nominees, to the 10 Inductees who will be officially welcomed into the Hall of Fame , at a star studded event, at Manchester's Lowry Hotel, on Thursday, 20th October, 2005. Mark Bushell from the Museum said: “It's a tough job but somebody's got to do it. This promises to be the most illustrious Hall of Fame event to date. The setting of the Lowry Hotel is perfect to welcome the cream of English football who will be attending on the evening. Tickets are now on sale, but if it's anything like last year they will be like gold dust so I would advise people to contact us, sooner rather than later, if they want to attend this years Ceremony.”

Viv Anderson, the first black footballer to be capped at full international level by England, said: “I couldn't believe it when I heard the news that I was to be inducted last year. The gala Dinner and Awards event is a great evening with a whole host of legends. I was like a little kid running around getting the autographs of my heroes.”
