Players From Footballs Past Share Their FA Cup
Memories
This year as part of the National Football Museum's
summer programme and temporary exhibition, 'Saved
for the Nation: The Story of the FA Cup', the Education
and Access Team carried out a project to record the
FA Cup memories of football players and fans.
Museum staff worked with a professional storyteller,
Fiona Collins, to collect the memories of some of the
FA Cups most famous players, including Sir Tom
Finney and Blackpool legend Bill Perry.
These funny, sad and humorous memories were
recorded and used to inspire a series of short stories.
The stories were performed by Fiona Collins to Museum
visitors throughout the summer. Visitors were able to
gain a unique insight into the pasts of these great players.
The Museum would like to thank all the project participants
for their time and their memories.
Transcripts of the memories recorded during
conversations with Sir Tom Finney and Bill Perry are
available to download.
