Footballers favourite books mini-exhibition now open!
What has the Bible, the Da Vinci Code and Harry Potter got to do with football? At first glance you may be forgiven for thinking not a lot. But believe it or not they are just three of the many interesting answers given when the Museum asked a host of famous names in football to name their favourite book. Following National Storytelling Week and in the lead up to World Book Day the Museum contacted the likes of Jose Mourinho, Wayne Rooney and Billy Davies to see what tickled their literary taste buds.
The display features the favourite books of over 15 famous footballers and managers along with the original signed letters of response. Just who cited that Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island was their number one book? Who was inspired by the writing of Mohammed Ali? Who gets their learned kicks from books about Kinetics? And was it Sir Alex Ferguson, David Moyes or perhaps Martin Jol that championed Orwell's Animal Farm ? Of course there's only one way to find out, and that's by visiting the Museum to see this engaging exhibition from Tuesday 21st February and entry is as usual, FREE to all visitors.
