International success for National Football Museum
2006 has been a year of outstanding international success for the National Football Museum. The Museum has contributed to six exhibitions in Germany, one in Brazil, and has held a major exhibition at the History Museum in Hong Kong. The German Sports and Olympic Museum in Cologne held an exhibition of items from the National Football Museum, called ‘The Crown Jewels of Football'. Gordon Brown, Chancellor of the Exchequer, visited the exhibition in Cologne, and had the opportunity to hold the ball from the 1966 World Cup Final, which was one of the artefacts which had been loaned for the exhibition.
Kevin Moore, Museum Director, said “As we hold the world's finest collections relating to football's history, including the FIFA Collection, we receive many requests to exhibit artefacts overseas. To date, we have contributed to over 20 exhibitions around the world. We are delighted to be able to take our outstanding collections to a worldwide audience”.
