Manchester United's 1968 European Cup Winners Re united with European Treasures

Four of Manchester United's favourite sons are to be reunited with a host of historical artifacts related to the club, at the National Football Museum, in Preston.

United legends, Bill Foulkes, Alex Stepney, Pat Crerand and David Sadler will visit the Museum on Saturday 29th July, at 1.30pm, to wallow in the nostalgia of all things United in the late 1950's and 1960's.

Mark Bushell from the Museum said: "It will be great to meet up with David and Pat again as they are great friends of the Museum. However, we now have a significant number of new Manchester United objects, that they have not had the opportunity to see the within our exhibitions, including George Best's 1968 European Footballer of the Year award.

It will be a poignant visit for Foulkes as the Museum has also secured an original 1950's ball, and an autograph book, signed by the great Busby Babes. The Museum has also recently received an memorial programme produced for the HIgh Mass, after the Munich air disaster in 1958. Foulkes was one of the survivors from the crash that saw the premature death of eight of his team mates.

All four of the ex 'Red Devils' were part of the Manchester United team that became the first English club to win the European Cup, when they defeated Benfica, 4 - 1, in 1968.

As Bushell explained they all have a high pedigree: "When you think of the top domestic teams in the English games history, these guys played for arguably one of the best. They have all been part of a Division One Championship winning side whilst Foulkes, Stepney and Crerand have also lifted the FA Cup. Not bad in an era when more than just three or four teams had a chance of winning major honours."

After viewing the Museum's exhibitions the legends will sign autographs in the Museum's main reception.
