National Football Museum short-listed for major regional award
We are proud to announce that the National Football Museum has been short-listed in the annual Lancashire and Blackpool Tourism Awards. The museum is once again nominated in the Large Visitor Attraction of the Year category, which it won in 2005.
The other nominees are the Pleasure Beach at Blackpool, Sandcastle Watermark, Blackpool and WWT Martin Mere Wetland Centre, Ormskirk.
Representatives from the museum will attend the awards ceremony to be held on Wednesday 18 June at Blackburn Rovers Football Club.
David Pearson, Museum Manager commented: ‘We feel that these awards are a great way of recognising the important role that these attractions play in drawing visitors to the county. It’s a real honour for us to be short-listed, especially as we won relatively recently in 2005. However, since then we’ve introduced over 300 new objects to our displays, made improvements to our café and worked particularly hard to ensure that we’re a ‘family friendly’ destination. We realise there’s some stiff competition from the other attractions though. Whichever way the awards go, I’m sure that all the nominated venues will benefit from being short-listed’.
