PNE stars revisit museum to meet fans

Hundreds of excited Preston North End fans and autograph hunters once again queued patiently to meet some of the ex players from Preston North Ends glory years at the museum recently.  After the success of the last event the players returned, led by Sir Tom Finney to sign autographs, chat and pose for photographs.

Gordon Coleman, Peter Sayer, David Hughes, George Ross, Alex Bruce, Tommy Thompson, John Thomas and John Ritchie all joined Sir Tom to meet autograph hunters young and old.

As before, Ian Rigby from the PNE Former Players Association brought the players together for the day.  He said ‘Once again the players are amazed at the brilliant turnout.  Some of these guys have travelled the length and breadth of the country to be here today. In fact I haven’t seen Gordon Coleman since he last played for PNE nearly twenty years ago.  It’s great for the players and great for the fans too’.

Museum Manager David Pearson commented ‘Our last signing session took place during February half term.  It was such a success that Ian kindly agreed to help us organise another event.  Our last event focused on players from the 1950’s but this time we’ve mixed it up a bit and there are players here from the 1950’s through to the 1980’s.  This is what the National Football Museum is all about and it’s just fantastic that the players all gave up their time to come to the museum and meet the fans.  We’ll definitely be planning more events like this over the coming months – hopefully with other clubs as well as Preston North End’.

Look out for further events planned for later in the year.
