FIFA Vice President, Geoff Thompson, joins National Football Museum Board

The National Football Museum is delighted to announce that Geoff Thompson will join its Board of Trustees from November 2007.

Mr Thompson was elected to The Council of The Football Association in 1979 and to its Executive Committee ten years later. He became Chairman of the FA in 2000 and is well known for his commitment to amateur, youth and women's football. He has led England 's International Development Programme as a UEFA Executive Member and became a Vice President of FIFA from 2007.

Mr Thompson said: “I am delighted to be joining the Board of Trustees of the National Football Museum as a representative of FIFA.  FIFA as an organisation has been a very strong supporter of the National Football Museum since the outset of the project.  FIFA is delighted that the Museum is the permanent home of the FIFA Collection.  As well as its national role, the National Football Museum has international significance, and I look forward to playing my role in the development of the Museum in the years to come”.
