National Football Museum invited to London Olympics event

The Museum was delighted to be invited by the Museums Libraries and Archives (MLA) Council to bring some of its collection to an event on 10 July 2007 at the Royal Festival Hall in London to launch MLA's programme for the Cultural Olympiad for the 2012 London Olympics. At the event MLA unveiled its Setting the Pace document - a Partnership Vision for 2012.

Delegates, including Culture Minister Margaret Hodge MP and Keith Khan, Head of Culture London 2012, had a chance to see the Museum's famous 1966 World Cup Final ball. The Museum also displayed Olympic historic objects, courtesy of the Priory Collection, such as the megaphone and top hat of the master of ceremonies at the 1908 London Olympics.

The National Football Museum is working with other members of the Sports Heritage Network to develop cultural programmes for the 2012 games.
