South African Delegation Visit National Football Museum

On 26 June 2007 the Museum was delighted to welcome a visit from two senior government officials from South Africa , Makgolo Makgolo and Sydney Selepe, to discuss opportunities for developing an exciting exhibition in South Africa for the FIFA World Cup 2010.

In South Africa Mr Makgolo is Chief Executive of the Northern Flagship Institution National Museums and Mr Selepe is Deputy Director General of the Department of Arts and Culture. Mr Selepe has recently been appointed to lead the cultural programme for the FIFA World Cup South Africa 2010.

National Football Museum Director Kevin Moore said: “We were delighted to meet Mr Selepe and Mr Makgolo and look forward to developing a very exciting exhibition with them for 2010.”

Sydney Selepe said: “I was very impressed by the National Football Museum . South Africa is very proud to be hosting the World Cup in 2010, its first time in Africa . I am sure that an exhibition developed in partnership with the National Football Museum has the potential to be a highlight of our exciting cultural celebrations.”
