Feyenoord visits the National Football Museum in build up to Centenary

We were delighted to welcome recently, museum representatives from leading Dutch football club, Feyenoord. As part of the build up to Feyenoord's centenary in 2008, the club will be reopening its museum in July 2008. In addition, there will be a major exhibition on the history of the club at the main museum of history in Rotterdam , where the club is based.

Gido Vader and Ton Strooband, from Feyenoord, visited with museum designer Theo Braams, whose company is leading on the design of both the club museum and the celebratory exhibition at the history museum. The purpose of the visit to the National Football Museum was to gain ideas for the development of these two displays.

Gido Vader said: “We were immensely impressed by the National Football Museum . The way that it has been set up and the love for the game with which the collection has been put together are inspirational. It is a trip down the collective memory of all football fans worldwide and an eye opener for non-football enthusiasts.”

Kevin Moore, Museum Director, said: “We were delighted to welcome Gido and his colleagues from Feyenoord and we will be very pleased to assist the club in any way we can in developing its club museum and its centenary exhibitions. Feyenoord is a club with a fantastic history both in Dutch and European football, having won the European Cup in 1970 and the UEFA Cup in 1974 and 2002. We wish them every success with the centenary celebrations.”
