Graham Taylor joins National Football Museum Hall of Fame Selection Panel
The National Football Museum is delighted to announce that former Watford, Aston Villa and England manager, Graham Taylor, has agreed to join the Museum's Hall of Fame Selection Panel.
Each year since 2002 the Hall of Fame inducts additions to the official list of the greatest players and managers of all time from the English game. The inaugural panel comprised the following experts:
Jimmy Armfield
Sir Trevor Brooking (Museum Vice-President)
Jimmy Hill
Mark Lawrenson
Gordon Taylor
In susbsequent years all living inductees into the Hall of Fame automatically join the Selection Panel, and so it now includes the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson, Gary Linker and Alan Shearer.
This is the first time since 2002 that an additional expert has been added to the Panel.
Graham Taylor commented: “I am both pleased and proud to accept the invitation from the National Football Museum to join the Hall of Fame Selection Panel. It is a great honour to have the opportunity to vote alongside the likes of Sir Bobby Charlton, Sir Tom Finney and Sir Bobby Robson. I think it is so important for us to pay tribute to the greats of the English game in this way.”
National Football Museum spokesman David Pearson said: "The Museum is so fortunate to have Mr Taylor joining the Panel. His depth of knowledge about the game is greatly respected and we look forward to receiving his completed voting papers."
Further details about National Football Museum Hall of Fame 2008 will be announced shortly.
