New Trustee for the Museum
The National Football Museum is delighted that Ian Penrose has joined the Museum's Board of Trustees.
Ian is the Chief Executive of Sportech Plc, a £200 million enterprise value company listed on the London Stock Exchange. Sportech is the UK 's largest football pool operator, being the owner of Littlewoods, Vernons and Zetters pools, together with a thriving online bingo, casino and poker business. Ian joined Sportech in October 2005 with the intention of taking the business forward from a position of long-term decline to one of ambition and growth.
Prior to joining Sportech, Ian spent seven years at Arena Leisure Plc, and as Chief Executive from 2001, where he built the UK's largest horse racing and media group, taking the company from a market capitalisation of £14m to one of £200m.
Earlier in his career, Ian held a number of positions within the group of companies owned by Mr Trevor Hemmings, having qualified as a chartered accountant with Ernst & Young in Manchester . He is a graduate in Management Science from the University of Manchester Institute of Science & Technology.
On joining the Museum's Board, Ian said:

The Museum plays a unique role in preserving England 's football past, for both present and future generations. I am pleased the Museum is preserving and developing the major collection relating to the history of Littlewoods Pools. I trust that my business skills, experience and contacts will be of assistance to the Museum as it looks to expand and develop in the years to come.”
