Roy Clare CBE visits the National Football Museum
On 28 August 2008 the National Football Museum was delighted to welcome the visit of the Chief Executive of the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council, Roy Clare CBE.
Mr Clare had a tour with Museum Director, Kevin Moore, General Manager, David Pearson, and Collections Officer, Wiebke Weyh and saw the new display about Olympic football to mark the centanary of football being recognised as an Olympic sport.
Mr Clare commented: "I enjoyed visiting the National Football Museum and seeing their new display on Olympic football. I am sure that the National Football Museum will play an important part in the top class museum offer that this country is preparing for 2012."
Mr Clare had the opportunity to look closely at the top hat of City of London toastmaster, Mr Albert William Knightsmith. Knightsmith wore the hat when announcing all the competitors and events at the 1908 London Olympics.
