National Football Museum announces plans for a Sir Tom Finney exhibition in 2009
As part of Preston City Council's celebration of its greatest local hero planned to take place in 2009, the National Football Museum has said that it will now start work to develop an exhibition and community events on the life of the great Preston North End player, Sir Tom Finney, and his contemporaries and team mates.
Sir Tom Finney was an inaugural inductee into the National Football Museum in 2002 and is acknowledged as one of the greatest players in the world of all time.
National Football Museum General Manager David Pearson said: "Sir Tom continues to be a great supporter of the Museum and he is one of the reasons why we are proud to have our HQ in Preston."
Preston City Council has announced that a Sir Tom Finney Day will be celebrated on 26 March 2009 including a Gala Night in Preston Guildhall. The National Football Museum exhibition is expected to open on the same date and continue for 6 months. The Museum is now looking for commercial sponsors to help fund a high quality exhibition as a suitable tribute.
