Poetry in Motion
Football Poetry Competition
We are pleased to announce the winners of the Museum's half-term poetry competition. They are:
Ben Hilton, Age 6
Emily Darley, Age 10
They both won a Museum goody bag and a selection of poetry books. Congratulations Ben and Emily. Here are their winning poems.
We were heading for a draw,
Preston tried so hard to defend like a brick door
But, at the end Portsmouth did score
Ben Hilton, Age 6
Liverpool are the best
And to show it they have been put to the test
Their changing rooms are very clean
And I think they are very mean (in defence).
My favourite player has to be Stevie G
Because he hasn't had a catastrophe
Like Sami Hyypia bleed to the head and…
Gibril Cisse who broke his leg
4 now I end my poem with the best team ever… LIVERPOOL
Emily Darley, Age 10
Thank you to everyone who took part in the competition and who visited our football poetry exhibition.
Here are some more of the fantastic poems written by visitors to the Poetry in Motion exhibition.
I saw the great ball
Dribble with the ball, get there
Yes, I scored
Cerys Atchison, Age 9
One minute left
Can PNE score
Will the goalie miss?
Amy Gleaves, Age 7
Football loved by all
Taking it left taking it right
Enjoying the sight
Ricki-Lee Millington, Age 15
Kick high kicking low
a football flies to and fro
the whistle blows go.
Freezing blades of grass
get crushes flat to their last legs
melting gold shines bright.
Celebration starts
party poppers pop pop pop
for the winning team.
Lauren Townsend, Age 8, Year 4, Kirkham and Wesham Primary School
Blues! Blues!
Irresistable
Run down the wing, GOAL
My favourite team
I'm their biggest fan!
Not a team like them
GOAL by Larsson
