Sporting Memories: Football and the First World War Calendar
5 February 2018 - 5 February 2018
10.30am - 12.00pm
This week, join our Sporting Memories group for a special talk on football during the First World War, with National Football Museum Collections Officer Dr Alex Jackson.
The role of football in the context of the Great War extends far beyond the Christmas Truce kickabout between the warring nations. Learn more about the sport's impact at the Front, its prominence during the war, and the development of the post-war game.
The Sporting Memories Network have regular get-togethers around the country, using sport as a way to help people meet others, talk about their experiences and make new friends. What better place to start Manchester's newest group than the National Football Museum?
Group meets fortnightly at the museum from Monday 27 February, 10.30am – 12pm
Free, refreshments provided
