Why  does the National Football Museum  charge admission?

Unlike many national museums across the UK, the National Football Museum receives no core funding from the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS), nor does it receive core funding from football bodies such as the Premier League or the Football Association.

What is included in the price?

Alongside entry to the main exhibition space across four floors, your ticket includes photographs with our Premier League and trophy,  unlimited access to activities, including Pass Master, Shot Stopper and Match of the Day Commentary Challenge and all exhibitions, tours and trails. The only exclusive is the Penalty Shootout interactive, which will cost £2 per three penalties.

The annual entry ticket allows customers to visit the National Football Museum as many times as they like for one year from date of purchase.

Where does the money go?

The National Football Museum will be investing in a number of community programmes aiming to improve the self-confidence of those who participate through the sharing of football stories both social and historical. Activities will be in line with the museum’s central ethos – “Making football the game of our lives”.

Funds will also go towards expanding our successful volunteers’ programme  and continually updating our exhibitions and displays.

Why do only city of Manchester residents get free entry?

The museum is primarily funded by Manchester City Council. As a result, the museum will remain free of charge to all those who reside within its boundaries.

How do city of Manchester residents claim free entry?

To claim free admission, city of Manchester residents must give their postcode on booking a ticket.

How can I prove that I qualify for free entry or a concessional rate?

Bring a form of documentation with you that proves you qualify for the relevant admission. Depending on the concessional rate, this may be documentation featuring proof of address, a valid university card or utility bills.
