trudy says:
Alf Lambert was our next door neighbour, 1951 to 1961 in Darlington. He was not a popular artist then and his railway posters had not found fame. My parents wanted to help him out financially so they got him to paint my portrait in oils. I was 7 and did not want to sit still. So the hands on my portrait are not mine but those of his son David Lambert a mad keen scientist at the time, so his hands were rather pink and blue!
