Stuart Roy Clarke’s Homes of Football: Iron-Man Irony, Yorkshire Derby, 1990
Vinnie Jones, the hard-man, grew up near where I grew up and played for a team we used to play against on the (financially) poorer side of Hemel Hempstead. I am curious how a plodding hard man, seemingly a Sunday League bruiser, can compete with an increasingly athletic bunch of teammates and adversaries. I head to Sheffield to watch him amongst equals.
