Stuart Roy Clarke’s Homes of Football: View From The Terrace, 1990
Turning the other way, away from the heavenly green, I looked upon the city of Sunderland and its high rise accommodation as well as cranes which spoke of industry present or past. The lad rode round and around the block on his bicycle. I felt he was imagining what it was like along these very streets and back alleys back in 1966 when Sunderland had staged the World Cup here and everyone would have walked (or cycled) these cobbles to the ground in a throng of humanity. The tent in the back garden looks a little out of place, sad even.
