New National Football Museum website on phone.

Welcome to our brand new website!

A lot has changed since we launched our last site when the museum opened in Manchester just over three years ago. More and more people are now browsing via mobile devices (in fact mobile now exceeds desktop), fewer are using a website address and are just ‘Googling’ what they want to find and, as a nation of shoppers (and shop-keepers) we’ve taken online shopping to heart.

So we’ve taken advice, looked at what’s out there already, listened to our users and have come up with a new site which looks good and is now much easier to use.

Working with agency Reading Room the big change is that the site is now completely responsive to tablets and phones so is much easier for our visitors to access on the move.

The home page has been completely refreshed and is much simpler to navigate. A new calendar within the ‘What’s On’ section makes it much easier for visitors to search for events and activities on a date by date basis and a new ‘What’s Inside’ section clearly shows what can be found on each level of the museum.

We’re also made a major change to our online shop, with an expanded product range of art, gifts and games, as well as football memorabilia. A simplified ordering, checkout and payment process will all help ensure a much quicker shopping experience for our customers.

A little further down the line will see the launch of our new Collections section, initially highlighting over 1000 objects. Visitors to the site will be able to use search terms or search through a range of categories including clubs, equipment, medals, trophies and competitions. Visitors can also create personalised ‘scrapbooks’ by adding their own objects and mementoes to help the museum build a fan generated story of football.

We hope you enjoy using our new site; please do let us know what you think!

What now?

Use the navigation bar at the top of the page to find out more about what’s here at the museum and to plan a visit, with essential access and travel information. Check out what’s on each day or find out more about our fantastic learning offer for schools and groups. Find out how we commission and research art projects inspired by football, and of course you can visit our new shop, with lots of brilliant gifts and unique lines now available online. Plus you can find out about our Hall Of Fame; read profiles of the inductees (our inaugural greats are online now; more will follow in the coming weeks) and learn who is being inducted this year, and how you can be at the event itself.

If you’ve got any feedback, spot any errors, or are having trouble with any part of the site drop us a line using marketing@nationalfootballmuseum.com, or tweet us @FootballMuseum.
