Social Distancing Tactics

social distancing guidelines

To help you stay match fit during your visit, we have pulled together some social distancing tactics. Please take a moment to study these tactics before arriving at the museum. For further information, please see our Risk Assessment page.

Visiting with an educational group? See our updated guidelines here.

Face coverings

To protect our visitors and our team, the wearing of face coverings is strongly recommended. Thank you for keeping our team and visitors safe.

Please keep 1 metre apart

We are asking our visitors to remain one metre apart from other visitors for the duration of their visit.

Follow the designated route

We have implemented a one-way system around our galleries, ensuring that all visitors can maintain the correct social distance and avoid coming into close contact with others. Please follow the floor markers and arrows situated around the main galleries.

Use the handwashing stations

We have installed an array of hand sanitiser units throughout the museum. Please use these to keep your hands clean during your visit. Toilet facilities are also available to wash your hands.

Timed tickets and restricted numbers

In order to manage the visitor flow effectively, we have introduced a timed ticketing system, restricting the number of visitors in the museum at any given time. It is strongly recommended that you book a time slot in advance of your visit, as places are limited and we cannot guarantee that slots will be available on demand.

Book in advance online

We strongly encourage our visitors to book their tickets and time slots in advance via our new online ticketing portal.

If you are buying a ticket for the first time, you can purchase admission and choose your time slot. If you have already purchased a ticket, please select the relevant option and book your time slot. City of Manchester residents can also book their time slots online.

Card and contactless only

To minimise contact between our team and our visitors, we are only accepting card and contactless payments on our Welcome Wing and in our shop.

Toilets

Toilet facilities will be available to our visitors on the Pitch Gallery (ground floor) and the Play Gallery (second floor).

Enhanced cleaning

Our cleaning team will be rigorously sanitising the museum galleries throughout the day, cleaning all touchscreen surfaces and displays.

Please don’t visit if feeling unwell

If you are unwell ahead of your visit, please do not visit the museum, as doing so may place our team and other visitors at risk. If you have any symptoms of coronavirus, are awaiting a coronavirus test result or have tested positive in the past fourteen days, please do not visit. The same applies if you live with someone / share a support bubble with someone who has exhibited symptoms, is awaiting a test result or has tested positive within the past fourteen days.

Friendly team here to help

If you are unsure of any of our social distancing guidelines, or require assistance in any way, please speak to one of our team members at the Welcome Wing or on the galleries. Alternatively, if you have any further questions ahead of your visit, please consult our Risk Assessment page, or get in touch with us at info@nationalfootballmuseum.com.
