Manchester Football Writing Festival: Michael Calvin – Living On The Volcano Calendar
6 September 2015 - 6 September 2015
6.00pm
Michael Calvin returns to the Manchester Football Writing Festival on a hat-trick. His last two books, The Nowhere Men and Proud (the autobiography of Gareth Thomas) both won Sports Book Of The Year. His latest title, Living On The Volcano is released just ahead of this festival appearance.
In ...Volcano, Calvin spends time getting to know football managers, understanding the unique pressures of the job and how the public perception can affect the personal lives of men whose every proessional decision is up for scrutiny. From a writer whose book 2010 Family made thousands of football fans fall in love with Milwall, expect an unparralleled level of insight and humanity.
Michael will be joined by top scout Mel Johnson, credited with finding Jordan Ibe for Liverpool amongst others, whose experiences featured heavily in The Nowhere Men. A manager who Michael spent time with for his latest book will also be announced soon.
