Manchester Medieval Quarter Festival Calendar
23 September 2023 - 24 September 2023
A unique family-friendly festival in Manchester’s historic medieval quarter returns for its second year on 23 - 24 September 2023.
The Manchester Medieval Quarter Festival, organised by University of Manchester and Chetham’s Foundation, was a huge hit with people of all ages when it first launched in 2021 and this year’s event is set to be bigger and better than ever, featuring fascinating history tours, live music, film screenings, workshops, food and drink, and medieval entertainment.
The two-day festival celebrates the rich history and the incredible stories from Manchester’s past. As part of the festival, the museum will be involved with a little football-themed mosaic-making. The first mosaics date back to around 1500 B.C.: the art form persisted and permeated various cultures throughout the Middle Ages, becoming popular across Europe and the Middle East.
Visitors can make their own football-themed mosaics as part of our drop-in activity, running Saturday and Sunday between 10:30am and 1:30pm.
