Pride of the Pitch (@ Lancashire Archives) Calendar

22 March 2024 - 30 June 2024

Pride of the Pitch is one of our latest exhibitions, in partnership with Lancashire Archives, Michael Barrett (PNECET) and Gail Newsham.

Pride of the Pitch chronicles Preston's footballing icons on an individual and team level, starting with the Invincibles of the 1880s, to the Dick, Kerr Ladies of the early 20th century, and ending with Tom Finney in the mid-20th century.

It is supported by objects such as photographs and ephemera, as well as digital images, to tell a story of pride in Preston – pride of the place, pride on the pitch, and pride in our communities.

The exhibition is located, developed, and co-delivered with Lancashire Archives in Preston. It has been co-created with key partners that are experts in Preston’s past and present, such as Gail Newsham, PNECET (Michael Barrett) and Lancashire Museums. It will eventually also include a response from the community that will be developed through outreach sessions with individuals and groups, in conjunction with a North-West based artist.

The exhibition is a key highlight of the National Football Museum’s 2024 Football Creates programme, bringing football and creativity together through co-curation and local engagement.

Location: Lancashire Archives, Bow Lane, Preston, PR1 2RE

Opening times: Tue - Fri 9:30am - 5pm; second Saturday of every month
