Rewrite the Rules Calendar

Fridays, 11am - 1pm

rewrite the rules what's on

Take inspiration from the FA’s first Laws of the Game and create your very own Minute Book in our weekly summer activity.

Using the original laws, we want children to think about the rules of the game, the clubs that play the sport, the tactics they use and how we treat one another on and off the pitch, combining them all to form a book of their own.

Get involved every Friday in the Pitch Gallery between 11am and 1pm. You can even warm up for the activity beforehand with our online tutorials, available below via our YouTube channel:

Where do clubs come from?

Some of the greatest football teams have come from all sorts of unexpected schools, factories, pubs, some even from churches! Think about your local community and the unlikely places that could be home to the next top team, and add them to your own football map!

What are the laws?

There were plenty of discussions when the laws of football were drafted in 1863; some of these arguments continue today. Find out what football family you belong to, and which football tactics your teams would use, in our fun, interactive quiz.

How do we treat each other?

What do you think football could do better? Does everyone have an equal opportunity to enjoy the game? Be inspired by some of the amazing objects in our collection, and channel your feelings into your own protest poster.
