Walking Football Calendar

30 March 2017 - 30 March 2017
10.30am - 3pm

This Thursday, the National Football Museum and Manchester FA will be hosting our very own walking football session, encouraging older players to keep fit and meet new people.

A host of teams will be taking to the pitch outside of the museum entrance over the course of the day, pitting their wits against one another in fun and friendly competition.

Walking football has become an increasingly popular way for over-50s to get their recommended amount of physical exercise. This take on the sport allows those with limited mobility to enjoy the beautiful game at a more leisurely pace - ideal for older football lovers.

These sessions can have a positive mental and social impact, too, keeping the mind active and facilitating new friendships with like-minded players.

The walking football session forms part of our Memories of '66 programme, which aims to bring older people together through a collective love of football; sharing memories, handling objects and taking tours of the museum.
