Celebrate five years of summer at the National Football Museum

20 July 2017

2017 marks the National Football Museum's fifth year in Manchester, and we’re celebrating the occasion all summer long.

Become a different kind of museum history-maker at our National Football Museum Records Day (Thursday 1 & 15 August). Can you beat Sav’s Big Mouth? Get the top score on Pass Master? Amaze us with your showboating skills? Come down to the museum and write your name in our history books.

Get your fingers flexed and ready for our Subbuteo Summer Social on Thursday 3 August and become the flick-to-kick champion. Under-16s can learn how to master the nostalgic tabletop favourite with our expert mentors, try their hand – literally – at penalty shootouts, and take part in our very own SubbutEuros, with special prizes awarded to our winners.

Try our fencing taster sessions with Marshall Fencing Club in the Hall of Fame (Friday 4 and Thursday 17 August). Discover the difference between foil, épée and sabre, sharpen your skills in practice duels and learn how to get involved in this increasingly popular Olympic sport.

England Blind Development Squad player Azeem Amir will be helping visitors try their hand at blind football in the Hall of Fame (Tuesday 22 August).  See if you have the skills to succeed at this adapted version of futsal in Manchester Blind F.C.'s three-hour demonstration.

Seven to twelve-year-olds can enjoy a fun, creative pre-season before heading back to the classroom. Shake off that summer rustiness with Playmaker, our football writing workshop hosted by Football Heroes author Matt Oldfield (Thursday 10 August). Later that month, we warm up for the new term with three Football School sessions (Thursday 31 August), turning your favourite (and least favourite) subjects into something we all enjoy: football.

Ditch the cues and jump on the baize for a frame or two of Kickpool (Friday 25 & Saturday 26 August), or enjoy one of our traditional Football Skills sessions, running throughout the holidays (weekdays, 11am, 1pm & 3pm).

Our regular Subbuteo skill sessions (weekends from 2pm) and Road to Russia sticker swaps (Sundays from 23 August, 12pm to 3pm) will also be taking place every weekend, while visitors of all ages can try out our interactive FootballPlus+ activities on Level 2.

We'll be announcing even more fun-filled activities and events across the summer months. Check back on our website, Facebook page and Twitter feed for the latest info!
