How to get here
We're right in the centre of Manchester and very easy to get to by public transport. Or, if you fancy getting here by bike check the map above or visit Transport for Greater Manchester's online map of cycle lanes and parking here, or check details of the nearest cycle hub. If you prefer to walk the website Walk It may help you plan your route between the mueum and other attractions or transport routes,
Manchester is ringed by the M60, linking to the UK's extensive motorway network. Brown signs indicating National Football Museum or Urbis will direct you to the city centre. There are a number of car parks within a 5-10 minute walk of the museum. Click here for more information.

PLEASE NOTE: There are considerable roadworks taking place around the museum during the construction of the Metrolink Second City Crossing, with diversions and one way measures in place around Withy Grove and Corporation St.
The nearest drop-off point for visitors is the coach drop-off on Todd St.
We're right next to Victoria Station. If leaving Victoria Station from the main entrance, cross over the road and you'll see our large glass building directly in front of you. Head up into Cathedral Gardens and you'll see the main entrance on your left.
If arriving at Piccadilly station, take the Metrolink to Victoria. The free Metroshuttle bus service stops outside the museum. Catch the no 2 from Oxford Road or Deansgate stations. From Piccadilly catch the no 1 service and change to the no 2 on Deansgate.
The nearest metrolink tram stop is at Victoria station. From Bury, catch the Piccadilly or Altrincham service. From any other line, all trams to Bury stop at Victoria. If a Bury service is not available, catch any tram to the city centre and change at Piccadilly, Piccadilly Gardens, or get on at Market Street.

There is a bus stop (code NJ) right outside the museum on Corporation St served by many different routes. The free city centre Metroshuttle service number 2 stops at the museum and links directly to Deansgate and Oxford Rd train stations as well as other Metroshuttle services. PLEASE NOTE: Due to extensive engineering work the Corporation St Bus Stop is currently closed. Re-routing is in place for all services - check the First Group website for more details. Many services now stop round the corner, towards the rear of the museum on Victoria Approach.
There is a coach drop off point on Todd Street next to VIctoria Station. For further information on coach parking click here
From the airport
There is a regular train service from Manchester Airport to Manchester Piccadilly, from where the museum is approximately a 15 minute walk, or you can change to the Metrolink Bury service and alight at Victoria.
Directions to / from Manchester United FC
We are approximately a 20 minute drive from Old Trafford. Old Trafford is linked to the city centre, and the museum, by the Metrolink tram system. From MUFC, catch the Piccadilly tram at Old Trafford or Exchange Quay, change to the Bury service at Piccadilly Gardens for Victoria. Alternatively catch the Bury tram directly from Old Trafford tram stop and get off at Victoria.

Directions to / from Manchester City FC
We are approximately a 10 minute drive from the Etihad Stadium. The stadium address for satellite navigation is:

There is a sign-posted walking route to the stadium from Manchester Piccadilly Station, which takes around 20 minutes.The following bus routes link the stadium with the city centre: 53, 54, 185, 186, 216, 217, 230, 231, 232, 233, 234, 235, 236, 237, X36 and X37.
The Metrolink service to the stadium is now open, with the Etihad Campus stop serving the stadium. From Piccadilly Gardens use the Ashton-Under-Lyne service to reach Etihad Campus (approx 11 mins). The museum is an approx 5 minute walk from Piccadilly Gardens, or an adjoining service can be caught from Shudehill (Victoria re-opens 2015).

Going to another game?
There are now Metrolink services linking the museum to many Greater Manchester teams. Bury (Bury - approx 20 min walk to Gigg Lane), Oldham (Westwood - approx 20 min walk to Boundary Park) & Rochdale (Rochdale Interchange - approx 30 min walk to Spotland) are all linked by metrolink tram services from Shudehill. Wigan Athletic (Wigan Wallgate / Wigan North Western) and Bolton Wanderers (Horwich Interchange) are served by train services from Manchester Victoria. There is an online Journey Planner from Traveline that can help you find further details.
